A woman died this Sunday morning at St. Mary Medical Center due to a serious car accident. Courtney Cole's pickup crashed on an 18-wheeler truck parked near the College campus in Belle Glade. Cole's life became critical after her pickup crashed on wheeler truck, she died unfortunately after three days while she being treated in the hospital. Cole, who is from Canal Point, died just days before her 32nd birthday, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said. Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners approved a countywide mask mail out program for every residential address to receive four masks; two cloth masks and two pleated masks. The county is currently under a State of Emergency as a result of COVID-19 and issued a mandatory facial covering order effective June 25, 2020. Emergency Order Number 12 requires facial coverings to be worn in business establishments, public places, county and municipal governmental facilities and while riding on Palm Tran. Three shootings, three deaths in four days

Three deaths by gunshot were recorded in just four days in Belle Glade area. The first victim was found dead with at least one gunshot early Monday in 900 block of U.S. Highway 27: it was investigated as a homicide. The second victim was shot Monday afternoon in 100 block of State Road 715 after an argument with the shooter; he died in the hospital on Monday evening due to his sustained injury. The most recent victim was murdered Thursday around 1 a.m. in 400 block of Southwest Avenue C. Even with the low turnout with just 12.6 percent of qualified voters who cast their votes, Belle Glade’s City Commission election last Tuesday concluded with 12-year incumbent Michael Martin as the winner with 490 votes, defeating Robert Mitchell by 22 votes for Seat A. The city’s election board allows victory to the nominee with the most votes. The election results will be finalized by next week after securing any signature matters. Martin is not available for a statement as of the moment. Belle Glade drive-by shooters face Multiple Charges

Homicide detectives Matthew Ott and Joseph Piatchek, together with deputy Kelly Morell and one unnamed man, were unharmed during the drive-by shooting last Friday executed by Keren Briscoe, 21, and Jatavious Odoms, 23. Both men were charged with three attempted first-degree murder on law enforcers and one attempted first-degree murder according to PBSO. Briscoe is also charged with unlawful discharge of firearm. On Saturday morning, both men were detained without bonds as ordered by a judge. Two weeks after the reopening of some of the malls, restaurants and barbershops, 598 people tested positive for coronavirus in Belle Glade and Lake Worth areas according to the Department of Health. This number represents the 12.3 percent of Palm Beach County’s total caseload, jeopardizing the county’s collective progress against the virus. Other factors, such as language barrier, poverty and trust issues with the government, worsen the situation as mentioned by commissioners and other public officials, leading to the hotspots in Belle Glade and Lake Worth. 3-year old Murder Case remains unsolved

Even after three years after the death of Tyronie Patterson the authorities are still struggling to gather information that will further the investigation of his murder. Patterson was shot on March 18, 2017 at about 11 p.m. near the intersection of Southwest Avenue D and Southwest Sixth Street of Belle Glade City. The responders were able to take him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead the next day, on his birthday.  The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was not able to identify any suspect nor establish a motive for the crime at the time of the incident. The PBSO investigators are now asking the public to help locate Patterson’s shooter and a $3,000 reward is offered for information that will lead to the arrest of the killer. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Summer means relaxing by the pool, barbeques and refreshing slices of watermelon and no one produces more of this favorite summertime fruit than Florida. The Sunshine State is the top producer of watermelon in the United States. The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences says Florida farmers sold 800 million pounds of watermelon last year. The largest growers are near Immokalee, Belle Glade, Arcadia and the Suwannee Valley, which produces a third of the state’s watermelon crop. The research center’s assistant director Bob Hochmuth says watermelons are made of 92 percent water. Source: AP
