Belle Glade drive-by shooters face Multiple Charges

Homicide detectives Matthew Ott and Joseph Piatchek, together with deputy Kelly Morell and one unnamed man, were unharmed during the drive-by shooting last Friday executed by Keren Briscoe, 21, and Jatavious Odoms, 23.

Both men were charged with three attempted first-degree murder on law enforcers and one attempted first-degree murder according to PBSO. Briscoe is also charged with unlawful discharge of firearm. On Saturday morning, both men were detained without bonds as ordered by a judge.

According to the agency’s report, May 29, 2020, Friday, at about 1:30 p.m., the three deputies were outside an apartment complex on 400 Drive M.L.K. Jr. Boulevard, talking to a man whose car they were confiscating because it was linked to the arrest of Robert Jakeel Davis, the culprit for the May 7 shooting at another Belle Glade apartment.

As they spoke to the man, who is a friend of Davis, a tan or gray sedan drove by and the passenger on the rear right seat opened fire at them, fortunately missing them and hitting only a utility pole and nearby parked cars.

Security camera footages from neighbour’s porches exposed a car stop and three men stepped out and fled. Deputies later recognized the three as Briscoe, Odoms, and the third man.

During interrogation Briscoe and the third man denied being involved in the shooting. However, the PBSO report on Sunday states that Odoms shared information that evidently proves that the Law Enforcement was their intended target during the shooting.
